Excerpts from our wine glossary:
- Harvesting and de-stemming
- Mechanical plucking of the berries from their stems. Reduces the permeation of tannins before pressing.
- Bottler
- According to the Wine Act, a company which fills wine into bottles or other containers and markets it under its own name. According to the EU wine labelling Act, the bottler is responsible for the contents/product, even if it is not the producer. The bottler’s name and its corporate address must be shown on the label.
- Bottling
- Bottling is the process by which the wine is filled into the bottle.
